For Cellum, 2014 was a year to celebrate

Unlike most tech company blogs, we don’t spend all our time talking up our firm and its products, instead offering a broader, impartial look at the larger world of mobile payments. But as we prepare to bid farewell to 2014, we’d like to take some time to let our partners and others quickly catch up with all we’ve been up this year. So without further ado, here are some of the highlights of our year here at Cellum.

First and foremost, we successfully launched four mobile wallets: Erste MobilePay, OTPay and Telenor Hungary’s brand-new MyWallet in Europe (more on this later), as well as Mobile Credit Card in Asia, partnering with leading financal services and MNOs in their respective markets.

We became one of the earliest of early adopters of the latest Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS 3.0) standards, including the first in the Central and Eastern European region to implement the new security rules.

We advanced to the final round of the Citi Mobile Challenge, the global showcase for m-banking developers.

We made the scene at one of Europe’s top music festival, via a cashless card system operated with our partners CardNet.

We produced an awesome infographic explaining the what, how and where of NFC, BLE and QR, and some useful videos about mobile payments in the taxi, at the filling station and in the restaurant.

We were singled out from thousands of top international firms for the honor of being named a “Business Superbrand.”

And last but not least, we spent some of our time on good works, working with a unit of UNICEF to leverage mobile payment in the fight against Ebola.

So all in all, a busy and fulfilling year – and one we expect will only be a warm-up for 2015. And with that we bid Happy Holidays and the finest of all New Years to all of our customers, partners, and friends.
