Another milestone in the ongoing expansion by innovative mobile network operators into the field of financial services is currently being marked in Central Europe, where Cellum is helping the Norwegian telecoms giant Telenor offer comprehensive mobile financial services to its customers in Hungary.
Telenor is adding mobile banking functions to its newly launched MyCard credit card product with a MyWallet app built on Cellum’s mobile transaction platform. The app, which was initially released on Android and is coming soon to iOS, currently offers a range of convenient functions, including transaction history querying and limit orders for payments and cash withdrawals. Over the coming months, MyWallet’s functionality will be expanded with further use cases, while integration with MasterCard’s global MasterPass platform will offer users secure, fast and convenient online purchases.
MyWallet is being introduced to a customer base that until now has only enjoyed carrier billing micropayment services as SMS/text-based purchases and parking and highway toll payment, features also developed in partnership with Cellum.
“This project is the next milestone for Hungary’s mobile money market, as MyWallet will simultaneously provide mobile banking and payment functions,” said Cellum CEO János Kóka.
“We prefer to work with partners who share the same values: innovation, flexibility and customer focus,” said Zoltán Takács, Telenor Hungary’s Chief Digital Services Officer. “Cellum has proved to be among the best partners of Telenor Hungary by continuously demonstrating such values,” adding that the two firms also work together in other countries as well.
